Wash rice and mung dal separately until water runs clear
Heat ghee in a large pot over medium heat
Add cumin and mustard seeds, cook until they begin to pop
Add minced ginger and turmeric, stir for 30 seconds
Add the washed rice and mung dal, stir to coat with spices
Add 2-3 cups of water and salt to taste
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer covered for 20-30 minutes until soft and creamy
Add more water if needed for desired consistency
Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving
