Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the chicken quarters on top.
Drizzle the chicken with oil. Season generously on both sides with ranch seasoning and cowboy butter seasoning blend. Pat the seasonings into the chicken.
Cover the baking sheet tightly with aluminum foil.
Bake for 45 minutes.
After 45 minutes, carefully remove the foil. Baste the chicken with the pan juices.
Sprinkle another layer of cowboy butter seasoning over the basted chicken.
Return the pan to the oven, uncovered, and bake for another 15 minutes to help dry out the skin.
Finally, turn on the broiler and broil the chicken for a few minutes until the skin is crispy and nicely browned. Keep a close eye on it to prevent burning.
Remove from the oven and serve immediately.
Store cooled chicken in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat at 350°F for 10–12 minutes until warmed through, or serve cold.
meat thermometer · broiler or oven with broil setting
Yes, but broiling gives the skin crispness. If skipping, increase bake temperature to 425°F for the last 10 minutes to brown the skin.
Internal temperature should reach 165°F at the thickest part of the thigh. A meat thermometer is most reliable.
Yes, but reduce baking time by 10–15 minutes since breasts are smaller and cook faster than quarters.
Ranch is herbaceous (dill, chives, garlic). Cowboy butter typically includes garlic, herbs, and sometimes a hint of cayenne or smokiness. Both layer well together.
Yes, season and refrigerate the chicken up to 24 hours before baking. Add 5–10 minutes to bake time if starting from cold.
