French Onion Salisbury Steak

In a large bowl, combine the ground sirloin, 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, egg, French onion soup mix, panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined.

Form the meat mixture into 4-5 oval patties.

In a large, oven-safe skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the chopped sweet onions and cook until they begin to soften.

Add 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce and 1/4 cup of beef broth to the onions, along with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are caramelized.

Add the steak patties to the skillet with the onions. Cook for 3 minutes on each side until seared. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.

Sprinkle the flour over the onions in the skillet and stir to combine, cooking for about one minute.

Gradually whisk in the remaining 2 cups of beef broth, stirring constantly to create a smooth gravy. Bring to a simmer and allow it to thicken.

Return the seared patties to the skillet, nestling them into the gravy. Spoon some of the gravy and onions over the top of each patty.

Top each patty with a slice of provolone cheese and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.

Transfer the skillet to a preheated 400°F oven and bake for 5 minutes. Then, switch the oven to broil and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and serve immediately.
