Select a large pot, at least 20 inches in diameter, and fill it with potting soil.
Mix in an organic starter plant food, which is safe for fruits, vegetables, and herbs.
Insert a tomato cage into the center of the pot before adding the plant to avoid damaging the stem.
Dig a deep hole in the center of the cage.
Plant the tomato plant deep in the hole to encourage strong root establishment.
Plant Dutch onion set bulbs around the tomato plant, spacing them about 4 inches apart. Ensure the stem side is up and the tip is just visible above the soil.
Plant the cilantro in an open space in the pot.
Plant the jalapeño plant in another open space.
Add small-headed marigold plants around the edge of the pot to help repel pests.
