Tips & Notes

Pro tips

Chill your glassware beforehand to keep the drink cold longer without over-dilution.
Use a 2:1 amaretto-to-crème-de-menthe ratio; adjust to taste preference for sweetness vs. mint intensity.
Shake vigorously with ice for 10–15 seconds to properly chill and dilute the spirit blend.
Strain immediately into the glass to avoid excess water from melting ice.

Substitutions

Amaretto → Frangelico or hazelnut liqueur (shifts to hazelnut-mint profile)
White Crème de Menthe → Green Crème de Menthe (slightly more herbaceous, darker color)

Common Questions

What is the difference between white and green crème de menthe?

White crème de menthe is clear and has a cleaner mint flavor; green crème de menthe is colored and slightly more herbaceous. This recipe calls for white for a lighter appearance and taste.
