Bloody Mary
All hail the Bloody Mary, queen of cocktails and hair of the dog incarnate, gracing brunch tables everywhere since, well…sometime in the early 1900s. Most everyone is familiar with at least some variation of this drink. The original version was said to be nothing but half vodka and half tomato juice. Luckily, people have been adding multitudes of spices, seasonings, and any other kind of flourish you can imagine for almost a century. More recent trends tend to revolve around the garnish. One can easily find a Bloody Mary with practically an entire salad and even meat served atop it for brunch on Sunday mornings. Many versions also make use of other base spirits such as gin, tequila, bourbon, or rye. Whatever your taste, this classic pick-me-up is sure to be easy to find in most any bar.
