Charlie Chaplin
Charlie Chaplin, undoubtedly one of the most beloved figures in cinematic history and a jack-of-all-trades of the industry, was active in film for over 75 years. The Charlie Chaplin was created when its namesake was at the pinnacle of his career. First recorded in Albert Stevens Crockett's The Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book in 1935, this cocktail was served in the original Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York City up until the 1920s. Due to the tremendous technological advancements of the early 20th century, the Waldorf-Astoria quickly grew outdated and its wealthy clientele drifted elsewhere. Consequently, it was sold and demolished in 1929 to make way for the Empire State Building. The current Waldorf-Astoria was opened in 1931, but the Charlie Chaplin never seemed to make it back onto the cocktail menu. This bittersweet, fruity mixture is sure to satisfy any sweet tooth and pairs great with salty bar snacks.
