Can I make this ahead of time?
Assemble the toasts on a baking sheet up to 2 hours before baking, then bake when ready. Do not assemble more than 2 hours in advance as the toast will absorb moisture from the marinara.
What temperature should I bake these at?
Bake at 400°F for 8–10 minutes until the provolone is fully melted and lightly golden. Frozen chicken tenders are pre-cooked, so you're heating through and melting the cheese.
Can I substitute the provolone cheese?
Yes. Mozzarella, fontina, or a blend of mozzarella and parmesan work well. Avoid low-moisture cheeses that won't melt evenly.
Do I need to thaw the chicken tenders first?
No. Use them straight from the freezer. They cook through during the baking time because they are pre-cooked; thawing first can dry them out.
Can I use fresh garlic bread instead of Texas toast?
Yes. Pre-made garlic bread will work, though it may absorb more sauce. Reduce marinara to 1/4 cup to prevent sogginess.
