Chinese BBQ Pork (Char Siu)

Slice the pork butt into strips about 1.5 inches thick.

In a separate mixing bowl, combine the marinade ingredients: dark soy sauce, soy sauce, salt, cooking wine, oyster sauce, garlic powder, white pepper, Chinese five spice, sugar, and chicken bouillon powder.

For the classic red color, add a few drops of red food coloring to the marinade. Mix everything together until well combined.

Pour the prepared marinade over the pork strips in a large bowl.

Using your hands, massage the marinade into the pork, ensuring every piece is evenly coated.

Cover the bowl and let the pork marinate for at least one hour. For best results, marinate overnight in the refrigerator.

Line your air fryer basket with parchment paper and arrange the marinated pork strips in a single layer.

Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes, remove the basket and flip each piece of pork over.

Return the basket to the air fryer and cook for another 10-15 minutes, or until the pork is cooked through and the edges are caramelized.

Once cooked, remove the pork from the air fryer and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.

Slice the Char Siu into bite-sized pieces and serve immediately with sliced cucumber.
