Chocolate Almond Sweet Rolls

In a large bowl, combine almond flour, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, salt, 1 tsp almond extract, vanilla extract, eggs, and softened butter to make the almond filling.

Using a hand mixer, beat the filling ingredients together until you have a smooth and spreadable consistency. Set aside.

To make the syrup, combine water, 1 cup granulated sugar, and 1/2 tsp almond extract in a small saucepan.

Bring the syrup to a simmer over medium heat, whisking until all the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat.

Slice the entire slab of Hawaiian sweet rolls in half horizontally. Place the bottom half, cut side up, into a baking dish.

Brush the bottom half of the rolls generously with the almond syrup.

Spread most of the almond filling evenly over the syrup-soaked rolls, reserving a small amount for the topping.

Sprinkle the chopped semi-sweet and milk chocolate over the almond filling.

Brush the cut side of the top half of the rolls with almond syrup and place it on top of the chocolate layer.

Pipe or spoon a small dollop of the reserved almond filling onto the center of each individual roll.

Sprinkle the slivered almonds over the top.

Bake until beautifully golden and crispy. The video does not specify a temperature or time, but 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes is a good starting point.

Let the rolls cool slightly, then finish with a dusting of powdered sugar before serving.
