In a hot skillet, brown the ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula.
Once the beef is browned, add water, followed by the taco seasoning. Stir to combine.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Grease a 12-cup muffin tin with cooking spray.
Press one wonton wrapper into each muffin cup to form the base layer.
Spoon a layer of the seasoned ground beef into each wonton cup. Top with sliced jalapeños if using.
Add a layer of shredded cheese over the beef.
Press a second wonton wrapper on top of the cheese in each cup.
Repeat the layers by adding more ground beef and topping with a final layer of shredded cheese.
Bake for about 17 minutes, or until the wonton wrappers are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let the taco cups rest in the tin for a few minutes before carefully removing them.
Arrange the cups on a serving platter and add your favorite toppings, such as pico de gallo, sliced green onions, sour cream, cilantro, and a drizzle of taco sauce.
Store baked cups in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; reheat at 350°F for 5 minutes. Add fresh toppings after reheating.
