Place diced ham and chopped tomato in a pot with water.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium, and simmer for 30 minutes.
Add tomato sauce and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add okra and continue to simmer for 25 minutes, or until okra is tender and its seeds turn dark.
