Put all ingredients in a large glass pitcher with ice.
Stir and decorate with fruits in season and also rind of cucumber inserted on each side of pitcher.
Top with a small bunch of mint sprigs.
Serve in white-wine glass.
Mix the base (Sauterne, brandy, triple sec, sugar) up to 2 hours ahead; refrigerate and add carbonated water just before serving.
Use a classic Sauterne from Bordeaux, France — a sweet dessert wine. Barsac or other Sauternes-style wines work well as substitutes.
Mix the Sauterne, brandy, triple sec, and powdered sugar in advance; add carbonated water just before serving to maintain fizz.
Stir the powdered sugar with a small amount of brandy or Sauterne in a cocktail shaker before adding the remaining ingredients.
Yes — Sauterne is naturally sweet, and powdered sugar adds more. The brandy, triple sec, and carbonation balance the sweetness.
Serve in a punch cup, wine glass, or champagne coupe to highlight its elegant, aperitif nature.
