Banshee Cocktail (Banana Creme de Cacao)

Pro tips

• Shake all ingredients vigorously with ice for 10–12 seconds to chill, dilute slightly, and create a smooth texture.
• Pre-chill your glass by filling it with ice water while you prepare the drink; empty and strain the cocktail into the chilled glass.
• Use fresh sweet cream or heavy cream rather than shelf-stable substitutes to avoid a synthetic taste.
• Layer ingredients slowly if stirring instead of shaking to prevent separation and ensure even flavor distribution.

Substitutions

• Old Mr. Boston White Creme de Cacao → Other white cacao liqueurs like Bols or Marie Brizard (same ratio)
• Creme de Banana → Crème de Banane from other brands or banana schnapps (reduce to 3/4 oz for drier profile)
• Sweet Cream → Heavy cream, half-and-half, or coconut milk (1:1)

Storage & make-ahead

This is a fresh cocktail best enjoyed immediately after mixing. Do not store prepared cocktails; prepare to order.

Equipment

cocktail shaker · jigger · bar spoon · strainer

Can I make this cocktail without sweet cream?

Yes. Use heavy cream, half-and-half, or coconut cream as direct 1:1 replacements. Almond milk creates a lighter version but reduces richness.

What's the difference between creme de banana and regular banana liqueur?

Creme de banana is typically sweeter and more dessert-focused; Old Mr. Boston's version is a standard banana liqueur with creamy notes suitable for this recipe.

Should this be served cold or over ice?

Serve over ice in a rocks or cocktail glass. Chill ingredients beforehand for the smoothest texture.

Can I scale this recipe up for a group?

Yes. Multiply all ingredients by the number of servings needed and batch-shake or stir in a larger container, then strain into individual glasses.
