Blackjack Cocktail (Cherry Brandy Coffee)

Pro tips

• Use freshly brewed cold brew or cold-steeped coffee for clean flavor; avoid day-old coffee that may taste flat or stale.
• Chill your glass before serving to keep the drink cold longer without over-diluting from melting ice.
• Stir gently after adding ice to blend the brandy and cherry liqueur evenly with the coffee.
• Taste as you build—adjust cherry brandy ratio if you prefer more or less sweetness relative to coffee bitterness.

Substitutions

• cherry-flavored brandy → cherry liqueur or cherry schnapps (sweeter; reduce quantity if very sweet)
• cold brewed coffee → chilled espresso or strong brewed coffee cooled (adjust strength to taste)
• brandy → cognac or armagnac (richer, more complex flavor profile)

Storage & make-ahead

Best served fresh. Pre-batch the brandy and cherry brandy in a bottle and add fresh cold brew and ice when serving.

Can I make this cocktail hot instead of cold?

Yes. Substitute hot brewed coffee for cold brew and serve immediately in a warmed glass for a hot cocktail version.

What type of cherry brandy works best?

Cherry liqueurs like Cherry Heering or Cherry Kijafa work well; choose one with clear cherry flavor to balance the coffee and brandy base.

Can I batch this for a party?

Yes. Multiply the proportions and mix in a pitcher with cold brew and ice; guests can pour over fresh ice to taste.

Is this cocktail sweet or bitter?

It leans slightly sweet from the cherry brandy, balanced by the bitter notes of cold brew coffee and the warmth of brandy.
