Capri Cocktail (White Crème de Cacao Banana)

Pro tips

• Shake vigorously with ice for 10–15 seconds to properly chill and emulsify the cream without breaking it.
• Use fresh half-and-half; older cream may curdle when mixed with acidic or high-proof liqueurs.
• Chill your glassware beforehand to keep the drink cold longer, especially if serving up without ice.
• Strain through a fine-mesh strainer to catch any small ice shards for a smooth presentation.

Substitutions

• Half-and-half → heavy cream (richer, more decadent) or whole milk (lighter, less creamy)
• Crème de banana → banana schnapps (slightly drier, less sweet) or crème de pêche (peach replaces banana)
• White crème de cacao → dark crème de cacao (deeper chocolate note, less vanilla)

Storage & make-ahead

Cocktails are best consumed immediately after mixing. Store individual liqueurs in a cool, dark place; half-and-half in the refrigerator.

Equipment

cocktail shaker · jigger or measuring glass · strainer · coupe or rocks glass

Can I make this cocktail without half-and-half?

Yes. Heavy cream, whole milk, or coconut cream work as substitutes, though they'll alter richness and texture slightly.

Should this drink be shaken or stirred?

Shake with ice to chill and properly emulsify the cream with the liqueurs, then strain into a glass.

What glassware is best for this cocktail?

A coupe glass or rocks glass works well; serve chilled over ice or up (without ice) depending on preference.

Can I batch this ahead for a party?

Mix the liqueurs in advance, but add half-and-half and shake with ice just before serving to prevent separation.
