Chocolate-Covered Strawberry (Strawberry Schnapps Chocolate Cream Shot)

Pro tips

• Use a bar spoon to float each layer slowly—pouring too quickly will cause the liqueurs to mix and collapse the layering.
• Chill your shot glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes before layering to help keep layers distinct and slow ingredient diffusion.
• Pour the cream last and at the slowest pace; it's the most prone to sinking if poured too fast.
• Serve immediately after layering for the best visual effect and flavor separation.

Substitutions

• Strawberry Liqueur → Strawberry Vodka (thinner body, less sweetness)
• White Crème de Cacao → Chocolate Liqueur or Kahlúa (darker color, different density)
• Cream → Half-and-Half (lighter mouthfeel, still floats)

Equipment

bar spoon · shot glass · jigger (for measuring 1 oz and 0.5 oz portions)

How do you layer this shot without the ingredients mixing?

Pour schnapps first, then slowly float the crème de cacao by pouring it over the back of a bar spoon. Layer the cream the same way, using a steady hand and minimal force.

What's the best order to layer the ingredients?

Pour strawberry schnapps as the base, white crème de cacao in the middle, and cream on top. The densities allow proper layering in this sequence.

Can you make this shot ahead of time?

Layer immediately before serving. Pre-layered shots will blend together over time as ingredients settle and mix.

What glassware do you use for this shot?

A standard 1.5–2 oz shot glass works best. The narrow shape helps maintain distinct layers.

Are there substitutions for the crème de cacao?

Chocolate liqueur or Kahlúa can replace white crème de cacao, though flavor and layering density will shift slightly.
