Shake well with ice and strain into chilled cocktail glass.
Cosmopolitans are served fresh immediately after shaking. Pre-batched liquid cocktails keep refrigerated up to 24 hours but should be shaken with ice and served immediately for best flavor and texture.

Yes. Substitute triple sec with Cointreau (higher quality), Curaçao, or another orange liqueur. Avoid skipping it entirely, as it provides essential sweetness and citrus balance.
Always shake. The fresh lime juice and cranberry require vigorous mixing with ice to chill, dilute, and integrate flavors properly.
Use a neutral, mid-range vodka. Premium vodkas add cost without flavor benefit in a Cosmopolitan; avoid low-quality or flavored vodkas.
Yes. Mix vodka, triple sec, lime juice, and cranberry juice in advance; store chilled. Shake with ice and strain into glasses only when serving to preserve carbonation and temperature.
Fresh lime juice is essential for brightness and balance. Bottled juice tastes flat and metallic, and will noticeably degrade the drink's quality.
