To wash the board, use warm soapy water and a soft sponge. Scrub it down immediately after use to prevent food from soaking into the wood.
Rinse the board thoroughly under running water.
Dry the board immediately and completely with a towel to prevent the wood from soaking up water and warping.
To remove lingering odors, sprinkle baking soda evenly over the board and let it sit for an hour.
After an hour, squeeze lemon juice over the baking soda and use the lemon half to scrub the entire surface.
Rinse off the baking soda and lemon mixture, then dry the board completely again.
To maintain the board, pour food-grade mineral oil onto the clean, dry surface.
Using a clean cloth, rub the oil into all surfaces of the board.
Let the oil soak in for a few hours.
After a few hours, use a clean cloth to rub off any excess oil.
