Trim the ends off the Brussels sprouts and peel away any loose outer leaves.
Place the trimmed Brussels sprouts in a microwave-safe bowl with a little water.
Cover the bowl and microwave for 4 minutes to steam the sprouts.
Preheat your air fryer.
Arrange the steamed Brussels sprouts on the air fryer tray.
Using the bottom of the bowl or a glass, carefully smash each sprout flat.
Spray the smashed sprouts with cooking oil and season generously with garlic salt.
Air fry until they are super crispy and browned.
Serve hot, with a dipping sauce like cheese sauce if desired.
