Place 5 tea bags into a medium saucepan with 4 cups of water.
Bring the water to a boil on the stovetop. Once it starts boiling, let it boil for 10 minutes.
While the tea is boiling, add 1.5 cups of sugar to a large pitcher.
After 10 minutes, remove the pot from the heat and carefully take out the tea bags.
Pour the hot tea concentrate into the pitcher over the sugar.
Stir well until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Top off the pitcher with 4 cups of cold water. Pour it gently down the side of the pitcher to prevent the tea from becoming bubbly.
Fill a glass with ice and pour the sweet tea over it to serve.
