Whiskey Cocktail

Pro tips

• Chill your glass with ice water before pouring to keep the drink cold longer.
• Add dashes of bitters last and stir gently to distribute evenly without over-mixing.
• Use quality whiskey—the small ingredient list means every component matters.
• Stir for 10–15 seconds to chill and slightly dilute, creating a silky mouthfeel.

Substitutions

• Old Mr. Boston whiskey → any bourbon or rye whiskey (adjust bitters ratio to taste)
• Syrup → honey dissolved in a touch of warm water (slightly different sweetness profile)

What type of bitters should I use?

Angostura bitters are the standard choice and work best with whiskey. Use a quality brand for balanced flavor.

Can I make this drink ahead of time?

No. Mix and serve immediately over ice to preserve carbonation and prevent dilution.

What does a jigger measure?

A standard jigger holds 1.5 ounces (44 ml). Adjust to your preference if you prefer a stronger or lighter drink.

Should this be shaken or stirred?

Stir with ice in a mixing glass, then strain into a serving glass for a silky texture without excess dilution.

What syrup works best?

Simple syrup (1:1 sugar and water) is traditional. Demerara or rich simple syrup adds depth.
