Bring a pot of water to a boil and add salt.
While the water is heating, pour cooking oil into a large skillet and heat over medium-high heat.
Carefully place the frozen chicken nuggets into the hot oil. Fry for several minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
Once cooked, remove the nuggets from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Add the macaroni from the box to the boiling water. Cook according to package directions, typically 7-8 minutes, then drain.
Return the drained pasta to the pot. Add the butter, cheese powder packet, and milk.
Stir everything together until the butter is melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.
Plate the macaroni and cheese with the chicken nuggets. Add a side of corn and serve with BBQ sauce for dipping, if desired.
Store leftover nuggets and mac and cheese separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat nuggets in a 350°F oven and mac and cheese on the stovetop with a splash of milk.
Heat 1/2 cup cooking oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, then pan-fry the frozen nuggets until golden brown and cooked through, about 8–10 minutes, turning occasionally.
Yes, fresh nuggets will cook faster (5–7 minutes) and may require less oil. Adjust heat to prevent burning.
Canned sweet corn, steamed vegetables, or simple salad pair well. BBQ sauce is ideal for dipping the nuggets.
Keep both in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat nuggets in a 350°F oven for 5–8 minutes and mac and cheese on the stovetop with a splash of milk.
Use dairy-free butter and milk in the mac and cheese; many brands sell dairy-free boxed mac and cheese mixes as well.
