Yes—Lava Flow is traditionally blended with ice to create a frozen, slushy texture that brings out the tropical fruit flavors.
This recipe contains no alcohol, so it's naturally a non-alcoholic tropical smoothie cocktail. Traditional versions may include rum.
Use a ripe banana with yellow skin and no green. Overripe (speckled) bananas add more sweetness; underripe ones taste starchy.
Use coconut milk (full-fat), coconut cream, or a coconut-flavored syrup. Cream of coconut is sweetened; adjust sugar if swapping.
Blend and serve immediately for best texture. Refrigerate unmixed ingredients separately for up to 2 days; re-blend before serving.
