Stir juice and syrup in Collins glass.
Add ice, fill with water, and stir again.
Garnish with orange and cherry, if using.
Enjoy immediately after mixing for best flavor and carbonation. Pre-mixed juice and simple syrup (without soda water) keeps refrigerated for 24 hours.
Best served immediately, but you can mix the orange juice and simple syrup ahead and add soda water just before drinking to keep the fizz.
Dissolve equal parts sugar and hot water (1:1 ratio), let cool, then use the same amount as the recipe calls for.
Yes, freshly squeezed juice delivers better flavor, but quality bottled orange juice works fine if not from concentrate.
This recipe makes one 8-9 oz drink; double all ingredients for two servings.
Replace simple syrup with sugar-free syrup or stevia to reduce sugar content, though orange juice naturally contains sugars.
