Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Dice the yellow onion.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the shaved steak and diced onion until the steak is browned and the onion is soft.
Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Reduce the heat to low and stir in the softened cream cheese until it's completely melted and combined with the steak mixture. Remove from heat.
Slice the jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes. Arrange them cut-side up in a baking dish.
Spoon the cheesesteak filling evenly into each jalapeño half.
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the top of the stuffed jalapeños.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
Store baked poppers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat covered in a 350°F oven for 8–10 minutes until warmed through and cheese re-melts.
Yes. Stuff the jalapeños, cover with foil, and refrigerate up to 24 hours. Add 5 minutes to baking time if baking from cold.
Bake at 375°F for 20–25 minutes until the cheese is bubbly but the peppers still hold their shape. Don't blanch them first.
Shaved steak (ribeye or sirloin) is traditional for Philly cheesesteaks. Thinly sliced deli roast beef works as a substitute, but ground beef will change the texture.
Cut a small slit along the side and use a small spoon or melon baller to gently scoop out seeds and membranes. Wear gloves to avoid capsaicin irritation.
Yes. Air fry at 375°F for 12–15 minutes until golden and the cheese is bubbly, checking halfway through.
