This cocktail is best served immediately after preparation. Do not store mixed drinks; prepare to order.
Both are orange liqueurs, but curaçao is made from bitter orange peels and has a richer flavor; triple sec is drier and more neutral. This recipe uses both for depth and balance.
Mix the brandy, liqueurs, and powdered sugar ahead, but add carbonated water and ice immediately before serving to preserve carbonation.
Serve chilled over ice. The carbonated water should be cold and added just before drinking for optimal fizz.
A wine glass or punch cup works best for traditional presentation; alternatively, use a highball or cocktail glass over ice.
