Roughly chop the serrano peppers, slice the onion, and quarter the Roma tomatoes. The pieces don't need to be perfect as they will be blended.
To the blender, add the quartered Roma tomatoes, a small amount of the canned diced tomatoes and their liquid, one chipotle pepper, about half of the chopped serrano peppers, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
Pulse the blender a few times to create a liquid puree. This helps to fully dissolve the salt and create a flavorful base.
Add the remaining ingredients to the blender: the rest of the chopped serrano peppers, the sliced onion, the cilantro, the second chipotle pepper, and the entire can of diced tomatoes.
Pulse the blender again until the salsa reaches your desired chunky consistency. Be careful not to over-blend.
Pour the salsa into a serving bowl. Taste and add more salt if needed. Serve with tortilla chips.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Salsa does not freeze well due to watery separation.

Medium-hot heat from serrano and chipotle peppers. Remove serrano seeds for less spice, or use one instead of five.
Yes. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Flavors deepen after a few hours.
No. This is a fresh, raw blender salsa. The canned tomatoes and chipotle in adobo provide the smoky element without cooking.
Fresh chipotles lack the signature smoke. Stick with canned chipotle in adobo sauce for authentic flavor.
Blend longer for smooth salsa, or pulse briefly for chunky texture. Add reserved adobo sauce to loosen if needed.
