Tips & Notes

Pro tips

Use fresh orange juice rather than concentrate for better flavor balance and to prevent the drink from becoming overly sweet.
Chill your glass before pouring to maintain optimal serving temperature longer.
Pour ingredients in order (vodka, liqueur, sweet and sour mix, orange juice) to allow proper layering and mixing.
Adjust the ratio of sweet and sour mix to orange juice based on your preference—more orange juice for a lighter drink, more mix for added sweetness.

Substitutions

Strawberry liqueur → Raspberry liqueur or cranberry juice (similar sweetness, slightly different flavor profile)
Sweet and sour mix → Fresh lemon juice and simple syrup (1 oz lemon juice + 0.5 oz simple syrup)
Orange juice → Pineapple juice or grapefruit juice (changes flavor but maintains fruity character)
Vodka → Rum or tequila (substitutes base spirit while keeping fruity mixers intact)

Storage & make-ahead

Batch cocktails can be refrigerated in a pitcher up to 24 hours before serving; add ice and stir just before pouring individual drinks.

Equipment
