Crème yvette is a French violet-flavored liqueur. You can substitute crème de violette or skip it for a simpler two-layer drink of grenadine and cream.
Pour grenadine first, then slowly pour triple sec over the back of a bar spoon. Layer crème yvette the same way, then top with cream poured gently over a bar spoon to float it on top.
Heavy cream or light cream both work; heavy cream floats better and creates a thicker layer. Half-and-half is a lighter alternative.
Layer and serve immediately; layered cocktails separate over time and are best enjoyed fresh.
