In an old-fashioned glass dissolve 1/2 tsp.
powdered sugar in 1 tsp.
Add : 2 oz.
Boston Five Star Brandy and 1 ice cube.
Stir and add a twist of lemon peel on top.
A mid-range brandy like Mr. Boston Five Star works well; avoid premium bottles since the sugar and water dilute subtle notes.
This recipe uses ice, making it a cold/chilled cocktail. For a hot toddy, warm the water first and skip the ice.
Mix and serve immediately; the ice will dilute the drink if stored, and flavors are best fresh.
Simple syrup (1 tsp) or regular sugar work, though powdered sugar dissolves fastest and gives the smoothest texture.
