Can I make McFlurries without a stand mixer?
A stand mixer creates the signature soft-serve texture by aerating the ice cream. You can whip it by hand with a fork or use an electric hand mixer, but results won't be as fluffy.
How do I prevent the ice cream from melting?
Work quickly and keep the ice cream cold. Chill your mixing bowl beforehand, use softened (not melted) ice cream, and mix on high speed for just 1–2 minutes until fluffy.
Can I use different mix-ins?
Yes. Crush candy, cookies, or swirl in chocolate, caramel, or fruit sauces. Add mix-ins during the last 10–15 seconds of mixing so they stay chunky.
How far ahead can I make these?
Assemble and serve immediately for the best texture. If made ahead, freeze in an airtight container for up to 1 week, but the whipped texture will firm up slightly.
What if my ice cream is too hard?
Let it soften at room temperature for 5–10 minutes until it's just pliable but still very cold, then mix immediately.
