Limeade (Homemade Lime Juice Lemonade)

Pro tips

• Dissolve powdered sugar fully in a small amount of warm water before mixing with lime juice to avoid grittiness.
• Taste as you add water; tartness varies with lime variety and ripeness, so adjust to preference.
• Chill the glass and use ice to keep the lemonade cold and refreshing without over-diluting it.

Substitutions

• Powdered sugar → Granulated sugar (dissolve in warm water first) or honey (adds floral notes)
• Lime juice → Lemon juice (more tart) or Meyer lemon juice (slightly sweeter)

Storage & make-ahead

Store the prepared lime juice and sugar mixture in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; add water and ice just before serving.

Can I use fresh limes instead of lime juice?

Yes. Juice fresh limes to get the juice needed; one medium lime yields approximately 1-2 tablespoons of juice.

How much water should I use?

The recipe uses 3 teaspoons of lime juice and 3 teaspoons of powdered sugar. Add water to taste—start with 1 cup and adjust sweetness and tartness as needed.

Is this suitable for a vegan diet?
