Limeade (Homemade Lime Juice Lemonade)

Pro tips

• Roll limes on the counter under firm pressure before juicing to maximize juice extraction.
• Dissolve powdered sugar in a small amount of warm water first for a smoother, lump-free drink.
• Taste and adjust sweetness before adding ice; dilution will mellow flavors as ice melts.
• Chill glasses and use fresh ice to prevent rapid dilution.

Substitutions

• Powdered sugar → Granulated sugar (dissolve in warm water first) or honey (adjust ratio to taste)
• Fresh lime juice → Bottled lime juice (same volume, slightly less aromatic)

Storage & make-ahead

Store the mixed concentrate in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; add water and ice just before serving.

Can I use bottled lime juice instead of fresh?

Yes, but fresh lime juice delivers noticeably brighter flavor. Use bottled in a pinch at the same ratio.

How much water do I add?

The recipe shows 3 juice of a lime and 3 tsp powdered sugar as the base; add water to taste and desired dilution, typically 1–2 cups per serving.

Can I make this ahead?

Yes. Mix and refrigerate the concentrate for up to 3 days, then add water and ice before serving.

What can I substitute for powdered sugar?

Granulated sugar, honey, agave, or simple syrup work; adjust quantity to taste as sweetness varies.

How do I get more juice from limes?

Roll limes firmly on the counter before cutting, or microwave for 10–15 seconds to soften and release more juice.
