Screwdriver Cocktail (Vodka And Orange Juice)

Pro tips

• Use freshly squeezed or high-quality orange juice—the citrus flavor is half the drink, so quality matters.
• Chill your glassware and ingredients beforehand for a colder, smoother drink.
• Stir gently when mixing to avoid over-dilution from ice, especially if using large cubes.
• Serve immediately after mixing to preserve the brightness of the orange juice.

Substitutions

• Old Mr. Boston Vodka → any premium vodka or flavored vodka like citrus or vanilla (flavor profile will shift)
• Orange juice → grapefruit juice or cranberry-orange blend (changes color and taste)

Storage & make-ahead

Mix only as needed; pre-mixed cocktails lose carbonation and citrus brightness. Prepare juice base and vodka separately and combine when serving.

What is the ratio of vodka to orange juice?

The standard ratio is 2 oz vodka to 4-6 oz fresh orange juice, adjusted to taste preference.

Should I use fresh or bottled orange juice?

Fresh-squeezed orange juice delivers better flavor, but quality bottled juice works well if not from concentrate.

What type of vodka works best?

Any mid-range vodka is suitable; the recipe calls for Old Mr. Boston, though premium or flavored vodkas can be substituted.

How do I serve this cocktail?

Serve over ice in a highball glass, stirred gently. Garnish with an orange slice or twist if desired.

Can I make this ahead for a party?

Mix vodka and juice in a pitcher up to 2 hours ahead, keep chilled, and pour over fresh ice just before serving.
