Sloe Driver Cocktail Recipe

Pro tips

• Chill your glass before serving to keep the cocktail cold longer without excessive dilution.
• Use fresh ice—larger cubes melt slower and prevent the drink from becoming watered down.
• Stir ingredients well if combining with other components; don't shake sloe gin-based drinks unless the recipe specifies.

Substitutions

• Old Mr. Boston Sloe Gin → Gordon's Sloe Gin or Plymouth Sloe Gin (same function, slight flavor variation)
• Sloe Gin → Blackberry liqueur or crème de cassis (approximates berry character but changes overall profile)

What is sloe gin and where do I find it?

Sloe gin is a liqueur made by infusing gin with sloe berries (blackthorn fruit). It's sweeter than regular gin and available in most liquor stores in the spirits aisle.

Can I make this cocktail without sloe gin?

Not directly, as sloe gin is the base ingredient. However, you can substitute with other fruit liqueurs like blackberry liqueur or crème de cassis for a similar berry profile.

What glassware should I use?

Serve in a rocks glass over ice, or in a coupe glass if you prefer it stirred and strained without ice.

Is this cocktail sweet or dry?

Sloe Driver skews sweet due to the sloe gin base, making it approachable for those who prefer lighter, fruit-forward cocktails.
