Place the un-shucked ear of corn on a plate in the microwave.
Microwave on high for 3.5 minutes.
Carefully remove the hot corn from the microwave.
On a cutting board, slice off about 1.5 inches from the bottom (stalk end) of the corn.
Hold the corn by the top (silk end) and squeeze firmly. The corn will slide out of the husk, completely free of silk.
Serve immediately with butter and salt, if desired.
