Tips & Notes

Pro tips

Use fresh-squeezed lime juice—bottled juice will dull the tropical brightness and balance of the drink.
Chill your serving glass with ice water before straining to keep the cocktail cold longer without over-dilution.
Shake hard for 10–15 seconds to properly chill, aerate, and integrate the passion fruit juice evenly throughout.
Add powdered sugar (not granulated) to dissolve quickly and create a silky texture rather than a grainy finish.

Substitutions

Passion fruit juice → pineapple or mango juice (maintains tropical character but shifts flavor profile)
Powdered sugar → 1/2 tsp simple syrup (mixes faster and requires no additional shaking to dissolve)
Light rum → aged or spiced rum (deeper flavor but will compete with passion fruit; use sparingly)

Storage & make-ahead

Serve immediately after shaking. If batching, refrigerate mixed ingredients (without ice) up to 4 hours, then shake with fresh ice before serving.

Equipment

cocktail shaker · jigger · strainer · bar spoon

Common Questions

Can I make a Passion Daiquiri without passion fruit juice?

Yes. Substitute passion fruit juice with pineapple juice, mango juice, or guava juice for a similar tropical profile.

Should a Passion Daiquiri be shaken or stirred?

Shake vigorously with ice for 10–15 seconds until chilled and frothy, then strain into a chilled glass.

What type of light rum works best?

Use a light or silver rum (unaged or lightly aged) like Bacardi, Havana Club, or Don Q for clean flavor that doesn't overpower the passion fruit.

Can I batch Passion Daiquiris ahead?

Yes. Mix all ingredients without ice in a pitcher, refrigerate up to 4 hours, then shake with ice and serve. Do not pre-chill with ice, as dilution will occur.
